New Feature: Create Jira Issues Directly from Guideline Violations

TL;DR: Pandorian now integrates with Jira. Engineering leaders can create tracked, pre-populated Jira issues from guideline violations in one click. Tickets route to the right board with full context attached: guideline ID, category, description, affected repositories, and every open violation. The gap between detecting a problem and fixing it just closed.

What’s in this post

You scan. Violations surface. Seven architecture issues in the payments service. Two security guideline breaches in the API layer. Ten configuration drift warnings across four repositories.

Then what?

For most teams, the honest answer is: nothing happens fast enough. The violations sit in the governance dashboard. Engineers are in Jira. Nobody bridges the gap. The scan ran, the problem was found, and the work never made it into a sprint.

This is the part governance platforms have always skipped. Detection is step one. Remediation is the finish line. Everything in between (tracking it, assigning it, prioritizing it against everything else on the backlog) is where violations go to die.

Pandorian’s Jira integration closes that gap.

Detection Without Remediation Is Just Monitoring

Governance platforms find problems. The weak spot has always been what happens after.

A violation sitting in a dashboard has no owner. No due date. No priority. No relationship to the sprint, the roadmap, or the backlog the engineering team is actually working from. It competes for attention with nothing, because it doesn’t exist in the place where work gets done.

Jira is where engineering work lives. Tickets get assigned. Issues get prioritized. Progress gets tracked. Until violations live in Jira too, they’re just alerts waiting for someone to manually translate governance findings into work items. And someone usually doesn’t.

From Violation to Ticket, in One Click

Pandorian’s Jira integration connects your governance platform directly to the boards where your teams operate.

Setup is two steps. Go to Integrations, connect your Jira workspace, then select the board where issues will be created. Over 300,000 companies run engineering work in Jira, so it’s likely where your teams already live. Platform Engineering, Backend Services, Data Platform, Mobile Apps. Route violations to whichever team owns the fix.

The workflow from there is direct:

  1. Open any guideline in Pandorian.
  2. Click the violations badge to open that guideline’s violations tab.
  3. At the top of the tab, click Create Issue.
  4. Pandorian automatically drafts a Jira ticket containing all current open violations for that guideline, with guideline ID, category, description, and affected repositories already filled in.
  5. Review, edit if needed, and create.

The ticket is live in your Jira board. One click, full context, no manual transcription.

Control What Goes Into the Ticket

Not every open violation belongs in the same ticket.

Some may be in repositories outside the current sprint’s scope. Some may already be deprioritized or accepted as known risk. Creating a single ticket with every outstanding violation across every context produces a noisy, unactionable issue nobody wants to touch.

Before creating a Jira issue, archive any violations you don’t want included. Archived violations stay visible in Pandorian but are excluded from the ticket. You control the scope. The ticket stays clean, focused, and ready to assign.

The Loop Is Now Closed

Governance without remediation is monitoring. Monitoring without action is noise.

The Jira integration extends Pandorian’s enforcement philosophy all the way through to fix. The full cycle now looks like this:

  • Detect: Scans surface violations across repositories and pull requests.
  • Prioritize: Review open violations by guideline, severity, and affected codebase.
  • Route: Create a pre-populated Jira issue and send it to the team that owns the fix.
  • Track: Remediation lives in the sprint, the backlog, and the engineering team’s normal workflow.
  • Verify: Future scans confirm whether violations have been cleared.

Every step in that loop existed before. The bridge between detection and remediation is what’s new.

Found Is Not Fixed. Now the Gap Closes.

Pandorian has always been built on one principle: standards only matter if they are actually applied. That applies to the enforcement layer, and it applies to remediation too.

Finding a violation was never the hard part. Getting it assigned, tracked, and confirmed as resolved. That’s where governance has always broken down. DORA research identifies time to restore as a core indicator of engineering performance, and you can’t restore fast if violations have no path to the team that fixes them. The Jira integration is the bridge between detected and done.

Common Questions

What is Pandorian’s Jira integration?

Pandorian’s Jira integration lets engineering leaders create Jira issues directly from guideline violations. When violations are detected through scans or PR checks, click “Create Issue” from the violations tab. Pandorian auto-generates a ticket with all open violations for that guideline, full context, and affected repositories, then routes it to your selected Jira board.

How do I create a Jira issue from a guideline violation in Pandorian?

Go to Integrations, connect your Jira workspace, and select a board. Then open any guideline, navigate to its violations tab, and click “Create Issue.” Pandorian drafts the ticket automatically with all current violations, guideline metadata, and affected repositories already filled in. Review, edit if needed, and create. The issue appears in your Jira board immediately.

Can I control which violations go into a Jira ticket?

Yes. Before creating a Jira issue, archive any violations you don’t want included. Archived violations are excluded from the ticket but remain visible in Pandorian. This lets you scope tickets to the current sprint or the relevant team without creating a noisy, catch-all issue that nobody will action.

Does Pandorian pre-populate the Jira ticket automatically?

Yes. Pandorian auto-generates the ticket draft including summary, description, all open violations for the guideline, the guideline ID and category, affected repositories, and issue type. You review and optionally edit before creating. No manual copy-paste from the governance tool into Jira required.

Which Jira boards can I route violations to?

Any board in your connected Jira workspace. When configuring the integration, you select the board where issues will be created, for example, Platform Engineering, Backend Services, Data Platform, or Mobile Apps. This lets you route architectural violations to platform teams and security violations to whichever team owns that domain.
